FairviewFairview By Jackie Sibblies Drury Directed by Jenny Nelson November 2 - 19, 2023 At the Frasier household, preparations for Grandma’s birthday party are underway. Beverly is holding on to her sanity by a thread to make sure this party is perfect, but her sister can’t be bothered to help, her husband doesn’t seem to listen, her brother is MIA, her daughter is a teenager, and maybe nothing is what it seems in the first place… Fairview is a searing examination of families, drama, family dramas, and the insidiousness of white supremacy. BarbecueBarbecue By Robert O'Hara Directed by Jenny Nelson March 23 - April 8, 2023 Robert O’Hara’s Barbecue centers around the O'Mallerys: a dysfunctional group of adult siblings who come together for a park barbecue to stage an emergency intervention for their sister Barbara whose drug habit has gotten out of hand. Through O'Hara's darkly comedic lens, the play engages audiences in a dialogue about race and social class, family politics, and the ways we give up parts ourselves to the stranglehold of capitalism. Skeleton CrewSkeleton Crew* By Dominique Morisseau Directed by Dexter Singleton March 5 - 22, 2020 At the start of the Great Recession, one of the last auto stamping plants in Detroit is on shaky ground. Each of the workers have to make choices on how to move forward if their plant goes under. Shanita has to decide how she'll support herself and her unborn child, Faye has to decide how and where she'll live, and Dez has to figure out how to make his ambitious dreams a reality. Power dynamics shift as their manager Reggie is torn between doing right by his work family, and by the red tape in his office. Powerful and tense, Skeleton Crew is the third of Dominique Morisseau's Detroit cycle trilogy *In March 2020, CCT was forced to abruptly close its production of Skeleton Crew because of COVID-19, and ultimately, to cancel the remainder of the 2019-20 season. Pass OverPass Over By Antoinette Nwandu Directed by Jenny Nelson October 24 - November 10, 2019 Moses and Kitch stand around on the corner talking, passing the time, and hoping that maybe today will be different. As they dream of their promised land, a stranger wanders into their space with his own agenda and derails their plans. Emotional and lyrical, Pass Over crafts everyday profanities into poetic and humorous riffs, exposing the unquestionable human spirit of young men stuck in a cycle just looking for a way out. A provocative riff on Waiting for Godot, Pass Over is a rare piece of politically-charged theater by a bold new American voice.
